With over 450 registered entrants, this year's Australia Day display was a terrific day. With the temperature in the mid twenties, you could not have asked for better. This was quite a departure from previous years, when the mercury has reached the high thirties.
All entrants had met at their pre determined register locations, to pick up their rally bags and entry stickers, prior to continuing into the gardens. Ten of our members then met in Toorak Road West, and traveled the final leg together into the gardens, so that we could park together. All went fairly well, except for Mark Fenton and Jeff Brumhead getting caught at a set of lights, and were then separated from the rest of us. They still managed to park reasonably close to the other club cars.
As usual, the cars were parked along the shady walk ways throughout the gardens, while a host of other attractions and entertainment were on show to please the larger than normal crowd. Display cars ranged from early veterans to the late seventies.
By mid afternoon, after the 30th anniversary badges were handed out, entrants started to drift away. No one should have experienced over heating problems this year.
